Rotten Exterior Trim SolutionsQuestion: Our exterior trim is ruining our life. Year after year we repaint it and we still have issues with rot. We're tired and we want a solution that will last a lifetime, any ideas? Answer: You are not alone, I can't think of anyone who likes to repaint their exterior trim and replace it every time water sneaks in and causes rot. Our company promotes the use of cellular PVC trim as a solution to your problem. Cellular PVC trim is often referred to as "Azek trim" since they are the industry leader in the field. Azek makes PVC trim in almost any size (1x4,1x5,1x6,1x8.....all the way up to full sheets of plywood). Once you install cellular PVC trim you will never have to touch it again in your lifetime. The product is available in white and you can paint it other colors if you desire. The material cuts like wood and you can use a PVC cement to glue the corners so you have nice tight miters. Your upfront cost will be around twice the cost of regular wood but you will never have to replace cellular PVC trim. If you are having a contractor work on your home ask them to provide you with a quote for Azek, the added cost seems silly when you divide it by the amount of years that you will live in your home.
