Rotten Window Sills, Repair or ReplaceQuestion: Our window sills have some rot on the outside, is there a way to repair this rot or do we need to replace the whole sill? Answer: Since you are to lazy to properly maintain your home, I will suggest a solution that you will never have to touch again! Azek makes a PVC sill nose that will replace the outer 1.5" of you window sill. This is a great product to add to your existing windows when you are switching them over to new replacement windows. With the Azek sill nose installed properly, your new vinyl replacement window will sit on top of the sill nose and none of your sill will be exposed to the weather. In order for the PVC sill nose to be applied, the sill will have to be cut back equal to the back side of your exterior trim. In some cases the sill will have to be hand chiseled in order for the sill nose to fit properly. |
